i won my canon t3i at 2012’s SXSW canon imagin8ion exhibit and that’s when i really started to get into photography; i took it with me wherever i went and just started shooting people. people are my absolute favourite. so is nature. so i love taking people outside and shooting them in a place they love so whoever looks at my photos can kinda see what it’s like in my world.
jasmine wanted to do something never before seen by her peers, so she decided to ask me to do her seniors. personally, i’m not a big fan of senior shoots because i’ve seen too many girls in cowboy boots lying on train tracks with a tired smile on her face. the idea of this shoot was to get a sense of who jasmine was/is during her senior year, sans forced smile. we went to my neighborhood pond and hung out for about an hour and a half, scaring ducks and impersonating the hump day commercial. i wanted the people who follow my photography to understand that people don’t have to always exhibit a particular emotion when they’re in front of the camera. they can just do what they normally do. for jasmine, that’s exploring, acting silly, and striking model poses. and i think we both like how the photos turned out.
