LET’S TRAVEL BACK IN TIME

We are going way back…all the way to October of 2011. . . I was a mom of three sons and one daughter. I found teen girls super scary, intimidating & moody. . . aptly dubbed “drama queens.” I put “teen girls” in a box & if I am truthful, I really didn’t want much to do with them. My Emily was not full of drama, was introverted & to me, wasn’t your typical teen girl. Big brother Luke had amazing guy friends who frequented our home, so our house was full of more testosterone than estrogen. And, honestly, I loved it!

This morning I received a text from a leader coming to share at the retreat next week who said “. . .honestly they scare me a little!” And it quickly took me back to the first retreat in 2012 when I was like “God, really. . . you REALLY want me to be doing a retreat with teen girls?”

I still smile inside when I think of what God has done because He truly chose the unlikely to lead something like Delight & Be. I was unequipped, felt totally out of my realm of comfort and truly questioned God & why He chose me to do something that was so far from anything I had EVER entertained in my thoughts. Now, five years later, my heart has expanded with so much love that there are days when I physically ache for these precious girls.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways…For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isa. 55:8-9)

FAST FORWARD TO THIS WEEK

Tomorrow is the first day of our FIFTH West Coast Delight & Be retreat in Leavenworth, WA. Over the past five years we have had girls & leaders fly in from all over the US and Canada to attend not only these retreats, but also to come to the more intimate workshops at our own adorable little Delight House!!

Yes, if you hadn’t seen before, we were given a (very-in-need-of-TLC) home in January of 2014. In September of 2015, after months of hard work, we hosted our first photography workshop! And in October of 2015, I received the most awesome letter in the mail saying we had been approved as a 501c3 non-profit! It has been a whirlwind of a few years, but full of beauty & joy.

I am in awe of all God has done. And today we finally can share with you our new beautiful website and blog! Thank you, Jesus!!

I want to encourage you to take some time to look through the new website! It is like going into a cute little shop & every time you look somewhere different, you see something new! I have been dreaming, praying and hoping this day would come. . .and it is finally here!
