Y’all.
I have a confession.
I’m that girl.
You know.
THAT one.
The one that waits in excited anticipation for all things pink, red and floral to grace the shelves of target with their modern elegance. The girl that spends hours hand crafting valentines out of glitter glue and scrapbook paper because everyone needs a handmade valentine. Yes, I’m the one that bakes excessively in February, buys the cute ribbon and cupcake liners, and then gives away baked goods like a boss.
I hope we can still be friends.
To put in simply: Valentines Day is my jam.
And you know what? I’ve never even had a valentine.
(Okay, Okay, I had one in 9th grade, and then there was that year that guy claimed I was HIS Valentine, but that wasn’t a real thing…. and those don’t really count….. unless they’re reading this…… Right?)
I just love LOVE.
I love the idea of having a day in which we notice people. A day where we have the excuse to give someone something they didn’t expect. I love the fact that we can cover a cupcake in red and pink, tie it up with a pretty bow and leave it on a coworkers desk for them to find.
It just thrills me.
But it’s not only because I’m a hopeless romantic. Its because that’s what JESUS does. Jesus romances us in countless ways each and every day.
I call them “Jesus Kisses”.
Jesus kisses.
He allows for someone to pick up our check at dinner, or he provides an answer to a question that’s been pulling at our heart strings, or he blesses us with deep conversation with a friend, or he allows for us to get a better grade on that paper than we thought we would.
Jesus kisses.
They’re little blessings that we didn’t see coming, and sometimes overlook.
Jesus kisses.
I love the idea of being someone’s Jesus kiss. Just the thought of being used by Jesus to bless someone gets me all excited!
It’s no coincidence that Delight’s theme for this month is “Be Love“.
Notice that it’s not : Be Loving or Be Loved or Be Lovable or Be Lovely.
No.
It’s BE LOVE.
We wanna challenge you to BE LOVE to people. Just this month. Love people dramatically. Let Valentine’s Day be your excuse. Start loving people how you want to be loved. Make handmade cards to people you don’t like, but know you need to love. Bake a dozen cupcakes and give them out at school. Buy someone a Starbucks (pick me!). Take the garbage out for your dad without him even having to ask.
Make people’s day.
Trust me when I say this– you’ll get addicted to it. That sparkle in their eyes, the questioning of “Why are you doing this?”, that smile they can’t contain– you’ll love every second of it.
What’s even better is when they don’t know you did it, and then Jesus gets all the glory, because you were his hands and feet.
Don’t make excuses, do something. Be LOVE, because Jesus IS love. Jesus didn’t make excuses on the cross, so lets not make excuses to walk across the room and love people.
The WHOLE month of February we’ll be hash tagging #DelightAndBeLove and we want to invite you to join us. Show us how you’re loving people! You might get loved on in ways you never saw coming ;)
I can’t WAIT!

I loooove this! Thank you so much! I’ll have to get really creative with these, because I love baking for people but I am at college right now and can’t bake. I’ll try and think of something else. :)
I’m totally the same way about Valentine’s Day. It’s my second favorite holiday and that may have something to do with the fact that my birthday is the day afterwards, but really, in general, it makes my hopeless romantic heart so happy. I’m so going to brainstorm up some ideas to spread the love, especially this month. :)
