Happy 2014 my wonderful blog friends! I cannot believe we are already on the 3rd day of the new year…time flies!
To be quite honest with you I do not have any deep or dramatically inspiring words for you today. I am sure you have already read blog post after blog post about goals, dreams and new years resolutions so I will keep this short and sweet. In fact what I have for you today is quite simple, it is a short verse from Philippians 4 that stuck out to me and that I wanted to share with you.
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.” – Philippians 4:23
The end of December is always full of dreams and hopes for the new year to come and normally I am all about making new lists and organizing my life for 2014. This year as I approached the new year I felt an overwhelming pressure to dream bigger make more detailed lists and become a “new me” in 2014. The closer Jan. 1st got the worse the pressure and anxiety got and I was very stressed about “everything” that I “needed” to do before the first. That is when I read this passage and was struck with the simplicity of Paul’s final words to the Philippians. The book of Philippians is full of exhortation to live a life that challenges the norm and exudes Christ’s love but at the end of it all Paul closed with GRACE.
I did not end 2013 with perfect goals and organized lists for the New Year but instead I ended with prayer for GRACE in 2014 and thanks to the Lord for the abounding GRACE that He extended to me in 2013. Will I end up with lists, plans, goals and dreams for 2014? No doubt. But right now I am resting in His grace and taking 2014 one day at a time.
