Thanksgiving has now passed, but I wanted to take a quick moment to list a few things for you all that I am so thankful to have in my life!
I am thankful for:
-coffee
-a wood-stove to keep my house warm
-an adorable golden retriever
-a family who loves me and encourages me
-friends who show me more of who God is and what His love is like
-good books
-photography, and the arts in general
-music
-long life chats
-a relationship with the One who created me!
There are MANY more things that could be added to that list, but those are just a few of my favorites. While I was thinking during this week about what I am thankful for, I realized that I have the special job of getting to post the day after Thanksgiving. Sometimes it can be easy to remember what you are thankful for on a day that is set aside for just that purpose, but we are called to do more than that -we are called to be thankful on a daily basis.
I think in our culture it can be very difficult to stay in a mind set of thankfulness when the day after Thanksgiving we are thrown into black Friday and are suddenly bombarded with ads for things that we supposedly need to buy! So here is my challenge for you and me. Let’s find a way to keep on being thankful for what we have and how we’ve been blessed. Let’s not just leave the thankfulness in yesterday, but carry it on today and tomorrow. Because being thankful isn’t a one-time, one day of the year thing, it is a way of living in acknowledgment of the blessings that the Lord has lavished upon us!
May the blessings of the Lord always be on our minds and may we seek to remain in an attitude of thankfulness all year!
