I began by taking pictures with my family’s point and shoot, and honestly not even caring about how they turned out. In some ways, I wish I could go back to that! I posted the pictures that meant something to me, not just the ones that ‘looked pretty’. I went through several camera upgrades (including a spell where I used a video camera on picture mode, and literally thought I was the bomb dot com ;), and purchased my first dslr in June 2010, a Canon 30D. I loved on that little camera for 3 and a half years! I poured most of my time and energy into learning about everything that camera could do, and loved every second of it!!! I started feeling those “I need to upgrade again!!!” pressures around December 2011. I didn’t think that camera had any more to offer me, and I just wasn’t happy with it anymore! But at the time, I had no money, and no job, therefore, no upgrade ;) And let me tell you, I am SO glad I didn’t upgrade then!!! Even though I didn’t think so at the time, I still had a LOT to learn!!! Not just in finding my style, but getting the basics down pat. So I worked even harder, and diligently (but not patiently ;) saved my money. I began second shooting weddings with some local photographers, the Rothwell’s, and I am SO grateful for everything they taught me!!! Shooting with them gave me the opportunity to do what I loved, without having to worry about all the messy stuff (like taxes ;). After all that waiting, I finally had enough to upgrade, in May 2013! I purchased the Canon 5D Mark III, and I absolutely love it! It fits my style absolutely perfectly! I would describe my style as being “clean, bright, natural, and happy”. I want you to feel like you are standing where I stood while I was taking the picture! Nothing overdone, and very REAL!
I will never stop learning about photography, and growing more and becoming even more passionate about it!!! I am so thankful for all the opportunities I’ve been given, and the Lord has really blessed me in my endeavors!
