Who doesn’t love a freshly baked cinnamon roll covered in sweet cream cheese icing?! xo AnnaFilly
Hi girls! I’m so excited to share this Cinnamon Roll recipe with you! I’m a huge fan of hot pastry coupled with a fresh hot cup of coffee. Especially in the mornings! This recipe is a favorite within my family- my uncle Mark absolutely loves it! It’s one that I’ve used for a while now and adapted from a version similar to Paula Deen’s :) The best cinnamon rolls are the ones with gooey centers and lots of icing, so don’t be afraid to slightly undercook these!
Here is what you’ll need….
Ingredients
Dough:
1/4 -ounce package yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup hot milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
Filling:
1/2 cup melted butter, plus a little more for your pan
3/4 cup sugar, plus more for pan
2 tablespoons cinnamon
3/4 cup pecans
Icing:
1 package cream cheese, softened
4 tablespoons butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 to 6 tablespoons hot milk
Before you begin, heat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside.
In a large bowl mix milk, sugar, melted butter, salt and egg. Add 2 cups of flour and mix until smooth. Then, add your yeast mixture. Mix in remaining flour until dough is easy to handle. Knead dough together on lightly floured surface for 5 to 10 minutes. Spray a medium sized bowl with cooking spray, or coat with butter, then place your dough in it and cover it. Let the dough rise until doubled in size, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
When the dough has doubled in size, punch the dough down (super fun). Sprinkle your surface with flour and roll the dough into a 15 by 9-inch rectangle. Spread melted butter all over dough. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over buttered dough. Finally, evenly sprinkle the dough with pecans.
Now it’s time to roll the dough! Beginning at the longer 15-inch side, roll up dough and pinch edge together to seal. Cut into 12 to 15 slices.
Coat the bottom of baking pan with butter and sprinkle with sugar. Place cinnamon roll slices close together in the pan and let rise until dough is doubled, about 45 minutes.
Bake for about 30 minutes or until they are nice and golden.
While the cinnamon rolls are baking, mix the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Add hot milk 1 tablespoon at a time until you like the thickness.
After the rolls have finished cooking and have slightly cooled, spread this yumminess over them!
Enjoy!
