Cultivating the Heart of a Wife | Delight House Intensive
I can’t think of anything more beautiful than bringing women together who all have the same desire to serve their husbands well and to be a Godly wife in their home. When I had the dream for the Cultivating the Heart of a Wife Intensive, I had absolutely no idea just how perfectly every detail would fall into place. Women flew in from all across the country, drove hours from across the state, and some from just down the road where we shared in similar struggles, joys, and excitement of marriage!! Whether sitting around the fireplace or the beautiful farmhouse table, we could be vulnerable and real, laugh and cry sharing our stories. From almost-married to six-month marrieds to myself (almost our 25th anniversary!), we all related what life is like as a woman who desires to be a Godly supporter and encourager of her spouse!!
From all different lifestyles and personalities, it was absolutely priceless to share meals together and read through the valuable blue tin of marriage advice! It seems so simple, but I asked women who have weathered incredible storms in their marriage, to new moms, to ladies who are blessed to be grandmas, and some wives who I aspire to be like to share with me just five things they wish they had known when they got married. The responses I received were all-too-valuable NOT to share! We lost time as we read through individual responses and then related our own marriages to this advice. I can’t even begin to tell you how incredible this experience was!!!
But if you ask me how it happened…I’ll just say it was completely Jesus when I was chatting with Katelyn James a few months ago and we both realized how PERFECT the dates were and how it fell into place for her and Michael to extend their west coast trip from CA to Washington to join us for a portion of this intensive!!! When Emily and I went to pick up everyone from the airport, we both looked at each other with giant eyes because we just couldn’t believe that a dream from years ago in having dear friends come lead at the Delight House was actually happening!!! And it’s a beautiful story for another time, but Matt, a videographer from TEXAS (who filmed last year’s Delight Retreat), flew back with his amazing girlfriend, Lauren, to be a part of this week!!
It was such a blessing to hear Katelyn’s story and how her and Michael have grown as husband and wife through their life as wedding photographers and running a business together. We’re all pretty sure Michael fully enjoyed his time with Matt & the boys at our own house snowmobiling & hanging out while the girls curled up around the fire at the Delight House!!
