We have had a very busy couple months! Our first Delight Intensive was the end of March, the East Coast Retreat the beginning of April and the West Coast Retreat the end of April! I can’t wait to share more details about each one over the next few months. God worked in such evident and powerful ways at each one and girls lives were forever changed. On May 25th, my son got married & I gained a beautiful new daughter. Now that the big events are over (at least for now!), I’m determined to focus on the next steps that we need to take with Delight and the actual building of the Delight House. I met with a very sweet couple who came to look at the house and hear about Delight this past Monday. They had some great ideas about setting the house up more effectively in order to use the 1300 sq. ft. wisely. And as I was sharing about Delight and all that God has done since 2012, I was blown away just hearing myself say it out loud. It is so apparent how much God cares and loves these amazing young ladies. And I know that God has beautiful and amazing plans for the future.
The next steps this summer are getting Delight up as a non-profit. I have spent hours meeting with people talking about the 501c3 & just know that I am unable to put the time and effort into getting it set up. Because Delight is for girls ages 14-21, we need to make sure that we are wise and have the foundation of Delight as solid as possible. This includes proper documentation, legal work, etc. And because I’m a wife, momma & photographer & didn’t go to law school and have cried while trying to figure out the 26 page application, we need to hire someone who knows what they are doing! So, the next step is a fundraiser in July. We’ll let you know details soon as we would love your support and sharing with others! This is the part of being in ministry that just isn’t a lot of fun. I just want to be with the girls & spend time with them. . .not dealing with legal jargon! And I would rather be going to yard sales looking for items for the Delight House.
Every time I walk into the house, the more and more excited about the future. I can envision girls sitting around the amazing farmhouse table built by Grace and Salt. I can see them sharing stories, learning & growing together. Lifelong friendships will be made in this home. I can hear them worshipping around the fireplace. I am just so excited to see what God has planned for this home. . .I know that it will be a home that brings hope and healing. A home that draws girls closer to God.
I put together a detailed list of needs for the house. Our family will be actively looking at yard sales, thrift stores & praying for the following items to be donated. We have a garage we can store them in until the time comes to use them! If you have any of these items or can help in anyway, please feel free to email me at delightandbe@gmail.com. And if you happen to know of any retired contractors or people who wouldn’t mind manual labor, we need all the help we can get! I would love nothing more than to have this home ready by November!
Here are some images below that were posted on Delight’s pinterest board as were were dreaming. . . it’s always fun to dream!

REALLY wish I lived closer! Our fam has a dishwasher we’re getting rid of soon & a chandelier (at least I think we still have it). Too bad there’s no way of shipping those over, or at least no way that wouldn’t be crazy expensive & that wouldn’t defeat the purpose. :(
