I sit here in awe. In awe of God’s goodness & faithfulness. Last year at this time, the Delight House was a dream. Now it is daily becoming more and more of a reality. On January 2nd, 2014, we were handed the keys to this house. As exciting as it was, there were days that I humanly was overwhelmed with the enormity of the project ahead of us. My sons and I spent hours and hours ripping down walls, tearing up carpet, cleaning up mouse droppings. . .and often fell into bed at night exhausted in January and February. I remember at times being concerned about the electrical bill, the insurance and the property tax bills that would come and not know where the money was going to come for to pay for it. . .and every single time (even at the last minute), God provided. . .usually to the very dollar amount. My faith has grown so much this year.
It is evident that the Delight House is God’s house. . .that He has a beautiful and perfect plan. He knows each person who will walk through the door. I know that I know this home will be a home to bring hope and healing.
I could write paragraph after paragraph of God’s goodness and faithfulness throughout the past year. . .from sparing the house from raging fire, from bringing the perfect person to work on the house (We love you, Dave!). . . and on and on. But I want to share right where we are at right now! Here are the needs before we can have the house filled with girls:
#1–Exterior Siding: We have 85 days to complete the exterior siding or else our insurance policy will have to change. . .and the price will go up exorbitantly!
#2–Countertops for the Kitchen
#3–Tile work in bathroom and kitchen
#4–Buy appliances for kitchen
#5–Air conditioning unit
#6–Fireplace completed
#7–Trim & Doors & other woodwork painted
#8–Walls in living room fixed
#9–Door Knobs, Cabinet pulls & handles, etc.
#10–Mirror for bathroom
#11–Small repair on roof
Once these are completed, we will need to buy bunk beds, bedding, towels, furniture, dishes, etc. So although it looks incredible and I am blown away by God’s provision and the progress, we still have a long way to go. Because it is seems so close, my heart is even more full of anticipation and eagerness to get the house completed!
I want to personally thank the ladies who offered mentorships to help with raising money for the Delight House. Your support means so much to me and to the girls! We have a few mentorships left!! Don’t miss out on this amazing one-on-one time with such incredible talent! Head to the Delight Store to see what mentorships are left!
Thank you to those who have contributed $100 or more. . .I can’t wait to hang the Window of Gratefulness on the wall in the Living Room! If you want your name on the window, please email me at delightandbe@gmail.com.
We have raised $10,000 for the start-up of the non-profit and I will be meeting with the lawyer again starting the second week of January. We’ve raised an additional $225 that will go directly towards the Delight House. Between now and December 31st at 11:59 p.m., every penny that is donated will go directly to complete the exterior of the Delight House. Would you consider donating $10 before the end of 2014? Here is the place to donate! Let’s see if we can finish the exterior together? We have less than 48 hours, so let’s see what we can do!!
Thank you for your prayers, encouragement and support for the Delight House! I am hopeful and prayerful that 2015 will fill the house with Delight girls learning and growing together.
