I am so excited to introduce Emily Magers of “Emily Magers Photography”. Get to know a little more about Emily below, and see one of her beautiful photo shoots she did with an adorable couple. I must say I absolutely love how she captured the love between this couple…I mean could they be any cuter? I think not!
I also, LOVE how she captures sun flares in her pictures. I am a huge fan of photos featuring the sun, whether it be through flares, peeking through trees, in-between people, etc. It makes a photograph even more beautiful and awe-inspiring. Be sure to also check out more of her work at herwebsite: http://www.emilymagers.com/or send her some love on her facebook fan page : https://www.facebook.com/emilymagersphotography?fref=ts
How did you get into photography? And who encouraged you to pursue it?
I got into photography at age 13 when I was in a terrible accident involving getting hit in the face with a golf club. My accident knocked out all of my teeth and broke my maxilla and pallet. Due to the fact that throughout jr. high and high school I was missing my front teeth, I always offered to take the picture rather than be IN the picture, and from there I found my passion. I truly do see life better through a lens and love everything about photography and what it has offered my life. My family and friends encouraged me, and still do to this day, to pursue my passion in photography they always were there telling me how I should really explore getting involved professionally because they thought my work was so good. Without their support I would definitely not be where I am today. But most importantly, GOD encourages me everyday, everything works according to his plan and he has put this opportunity in front of me at his will.
What inspires you?
Natural Light, True love, laughter, beautiful scenery, and colors inspire me and get my creative juices flowing as to what I am going to shoot next. I also have to thank Wedding blogs such as Green Wedding Shoes and Le Magnifique for posting such beautiful shoots, oh and Pinterest of course!!
Who is your favorite photographer? Or a photographer you look up to?
Wow, this is a loaded question because there are so many photographers I love and look up to! To name a few, Kristen booth, Jonathan Connolly, Lukas and Suzy VanDyke, the crew from Love is A Big Deal, Jose villa, and there are just so many more! I spend most of my free time looking at other artists work; they inspire me and give me so many ideas on how to better my business.
What is your favorite type of photography?
My favorite type of photography is everything and anything to do with love. I love natural lighting and couples being in love, where you can see the way they feel about each other just by how they look at one another, the joy of two people on their wedding day, and the candid photos of a special moment. These all make my heart so warm and happy J
How did you hear about Delight and what are you most excited about delight?
I heard about Delight through Pursuit 31 and am so excited to meet new photographers who love the Lord and share the same passion as I do. Also being able to be inspired by each other’s work and ask questions is always helpful! Delight is such an awesome organization and inspiration to young aspiring photographers and I can’t wait to be apart of it!
What do you like about delight so far?
I love the ladies of Delight and how the blog is orchestrated. I love seeing blog posts of other photographers work, and being able to ask questions about photography, and share the love we all share for our savior Jesus Christ.

About the Shoot:
How did you come up with the idea or what inspired you to do this shoot?
Shooting in an Orange Grove has been my dream since I started getting into photography. The lighting between the trees and the colors of the oranges on the green trees just make me smile its so beautiful! I had a vision of vintage, dreamy light, a blanket, and two people in love and I just made it happen!
Who helped you put it together or how did you think of the idea?
Living in southern California, I drive past the orange groves on the 126 highway on the way to Ventura Beach. Always driving past them made me think up the idea in the car until I finally had the opportunity to make my vision a reality.
Who was your model(s)?
Luckily enough, the models in this shoot are actually my sister and her boyfriend of 4 years. They are so dear to my heart and their love inspires me everyday so I could not have had a better couple to fulfill my vision.
What are your favorite types of shoots?
My favorite types of shoots are the whimsical kind full of love, natural light, sun flare, laughter, and unique venues. Also, weddings are my favorite because I get to live through the most important day of a couples lives and I can feel their love which always inspires me, and I’ll be honest, I always tear up dreaming of my special day in the future J
Would you ever do another shoot like this one? If so, what kind of shoot would you like to do next?
YES I would LOVE to do another shoot like this one, I took these photos when I was just starting out professionally and I feel like I could better my images and my vision of this shoot now than I did then. Not to mention, the colors and the scenery are so beautiful that any type of shoot in a place like this would make me so happy.
What kind of shoot would you like to do next? Any stylized fun shoots you are planning?
Next I would love to do a styled shoot in the forest or in an open field. I envision a beautiful sunny day with lots of sun flare and a beautiful dress with a wonderful headpiece and vintage props. Man just thinking of this makes me excited!
What is the lens you used for this shoot??
For this shoot I used my 24-70mm and my 85mm 1.2L
What is your favorite lens?
I don’t have a single favorite lens; every lens in my bag is my favorite because they are all perfect for different shots. Depending on what I am shooting, they all do the trick perfectly and always leave me in awe with how amazing the quality of the image turns out.
