It’s a day late, but it’s here! I’m so excited to feature this lovely lady!
Meet Ashley Crutcher, a sweet Delight girl from PA who shared a little bit about herself!
Thank you for being encouraging and open to letting us get to know you a bit better!
Who are you?
Hi, I’m Ashley! I’m a portrait and wedding photographer in Lancaster, PA. I’m in love with cozy sweaters, Broadway showtunes, yoga pants, the color coral, and watching the sun set. On any given day you’re most likely to find me laughing till I cry, singing my face off, wandering the aisles of Target, or spending hours in rehearsal for a musical! I believe in hugs, a good joke, Phillipians 4:8, true love, exclamation points, and chocolate milk.
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be?
I have an urge to travel to Scandinavia. I want to see glaciers. :)
What do you do? What’s your creative passion?
Photography! :)
What are three words you’d use to describe yourself?
Spunky, fun-loving, and carefree.
How did you discover your creative passion?
There once was a little 6 year old girl who would save her quarters to buy new batteries for the little pink plastic camera she got for christmas, then save her dollars for a few months to get a real live digital point and shoot, then save for what seemed like FOREVER to get her very first DSLR. She started taking pictures of her sister, just for fun, and then a few friends would join in. Then someone offered to give her a few dollars if she’ll take some pictures of them- what??? Money can be made off this thing she loved to do? The experience only grew and grew, along with her love for being behind the camera. ;)
What is your favorite part about what you do?
I LOVE connecting with so many different people and creating long-lasting friends through my business. I love keeping in touch with my couples after their wedding days!
What is your wildest dream?
I want to be on Broadway… Just once. Or maybe twice. Or maybe multiple times. :)
What is once piece of advice you wish you’d been given five years ago?
To let go and let life happen sometimes. To stop trying to control everything, and to let people or things go and not hold onto things with an iron grip- just take things as they come along! The Lord’s always going to be around… those people and things are going to vanish one day.
What’s the hardest thing you’ve been through and how have you grown from it?
I went through a really dark time spiritually and mentally, and struggled with depression in a major way. I really didn’t know where to turn and felt like I had nothing and no one to turn to. It wasn’t until I realized my full brokenness that God really showed his faithfulness to me. On a winter retreat last year, He really showed me that He was the only place I could go when I was struggling- I can only find peace and joy in Him. Now of course, this doesn’t mean that I don’t still have super bad days, and still struggle, but I can have a different perspective now and instead of focusing on the bad days, I can focus on God and the fact that He has a greater plan.
Who is your biggest inspiration and why? What have they taught you that has made an impact?
It might be cliche, but Katelyn James is a total influence and huge role model for me. Christ’s selfless love literally shines through her in the way she interacts with other photographers and her clients. As such a big name photographer, I think it would be easy to let it get to your head and think you were better than others, but Katelyn truly shows an example of what it means to be a servant leader and come alongside others- even though her life is crazy, crazy busy, she still finds time to help other photographers!
What is your favorite Bible verse?
Matthew 6:33– “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” For me, this verse always reminds me that if I’m seeking God, he’s going to provide for me in every area of my life and I don’t have to be anxious about the future because I know my whole life is resting in his hands.
