Where is home?

I really love reading Shauna Niequist’s blog – I can get lost in all her old archives of posts!

What are five words friends would use to describe you?
I texted one of my best friends and she said “gracious humble stylish thoughtful and confident” but she’s also a very encouraging friend. :)

If you could have lunch with one person, who would it be and why?
Joanna Gaines because it would probably be in her pretty kitchen and I’d convince her to let me stay for dinner too!

If you had to choose one lens, which one would it be?
Canon 85 1.2 – my faaavorite!

What’s in your camera bag?
Canon 5D Mark III, 85 1.2, 50 1.2, 35 1.4, 100 2.8, 70-200 2.8… and Burt’s Bees chapstick.

How long have you been doing photography?
It’s been nearly six years since I photographed my first wedding at age fourteen – I’ll never forget those nervous butterflies before my first wedding and could have never imagined then all that God had in store!

I’ve learned so much in the last few years about trusting God’s leading. Remembering that sometimes He guides door by door, step by step – we just have to remain faithful in listening to His voice and choosing to trust Him daily.

What advice would you give to your 15 year old self?
Lean into Jesus. He’s the author of all joy, comfort, grace, wisdom, and every good thing. Get to know Him really well and trust that His plan is better than your wildest dreams.

How does your relationship with God affect the way you do business?
In every way possible. :) For me, there is no separating Jesus and business. I have a heart to love and serve my clients and feel called to this because that’s what Jesus asks us to do in every relationship He puts in front of us. I hope my clients, fellow vendors, and wedding guests alike see that light in me in our every interaction. This is my deepest prayer!


Favorite bible verse?
Ohhh man I have a lot of favorites, but two that are the constant cornerstones in my life + business are…

Psalm 115:1 “Not to us, LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.”

1 Peter 4:10 “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

How would you describe your style?
I desire for my images to look true to real life – just a little bit dreamier. :) And strive to create images that are filled with both genuine and joy-filled emotion.

Who has been the most influential person in your life?
My Gram – she spent ninety-six years on this earth walking with Jesus and serving others. She left a legacy of love and grace behind and is my absolute hero.

Who or what is the greatest love of your life?
Definitely Chipotle.

Where do you find your inspiration?
My relationship with my clients inspires me beyond anything! While I love photography, really, it’s the people I’ve met through it that is the reason, six years in, I love it just as much as ever. My clients and the fullness of their joy is constantly inspiring me.

To get extra inspiration, I love visiting pretty and peaceful spaces – a good lunch at a cute little cafe, a cozy work day with good music and a candle burning, a weekend adventure to a place I’ve never been… but most of all, good conversations with people I love who point me towards purpose.

If you could choose one person to photograph, who would it be?
Kate Middleton mainly because I think she seems like the sweetest and I want to be BFFs with her!
