Name/business name: Emily Walker / Emily Walker Photography
Something short and sweet about you: I’m a small-town girl with a love for golden light, lemonade, and really good books. Photography has been my passion since I was a wee one, and I’ve been chasing the light ever since! When I’m not behind the camera, I can be found trying to learn a new tune on the banjo or catching up on some Netflix shows. I love to travel, and have my eyes set on visiting Ireland, New Zealand, and Iceland before too long.
About this session: Lauren and I discussed doing her senior pictures months ago, but from the very beginning we had our sights set on doing them at Walt Disney World. Disney is a huge passion of mine, as is hers, and this session was the perfect mesh of our love for the area, the Magic Kingdom, and Disney history.
Did this session challenge you? This shoot was practically perfect in every way. Even so, it was an incredibly long day: we arrived at our first location and began shooting at 2pm and kept going until the light went down. After sunset, we took a deep breath and celebrated the successful day by grabbing some pot roast mac n’ cheese and watching the Main Street Electrical Parade in the Magic Kingdom. Everything went according to plan, from the timing, light, and locations. It was an all-around amazing experience and is one of my favorite sessions of all time!
What gear was used: Canon 5D Mk iii, the Canon 35mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.8, and my trusty ONA Camps Bay backpack.
Why photography: Moments only happen once, and time goes by quicker than any of us would like. I’ve realized that one of the keys to contentment is enjoying every minute of your life, regardless of what those minutes hold. Photography is my way of being able to preserve those minutes and moments in life that go by far too fast.
How does your relationship with Jesus affect your work? I know that as a Christian, I am supposed to acknowledge the time I have here is fleeting, but still give my work 100% effort. I give my all during shoots and in the process of completing a session, from the actual day of the photoshoot to the time the images are delivered. I stand by Colossians 3:23: “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”
If you or someone you know has work that deserves to be seen here on the delight blog send us an email Submissions@delighthouse.org
