We are all given a story to share, challenges to overcome, and a purpose to pursue; all thanks to our Heavenly Father. Over the last couple of years, I have felt as though God has laid something within my heart that is meant to be shared for a deeper purpose, for myself to recognize and for others who may relate. The season of single young adulthood.
I truly believe this season of singleness is worth embracing, even with all of the difficulties which come along with it. In this time of singleness, we may feel as if we are on an emotional roller coaster of some sort. It can be a daunting, yet exhilarating experience. Our Heavenly Father so deeply loves us. This fact alone provides more than enough comfort that God has placed us in this season for a meaningful purpose and that His plan is always greater. His love is perfect and unconditional. His love has no beginning and no end.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
While we are undeserving of such great love, He continues to provide each of us with grace and mercy. He teaches us to love one another as He loves us. As Proverbs 31:10 reminds us, “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.” We become impatient and consider settling for a man’s heart that the Lord has not prepared for ours. We are worth more than that as His precious daughters. If marriage is what we long for, it will truly be more beautiful than anything we could have ever imagined. So long as our hearts are led by the Lord to the man He has so graciously preparing for us. “Priceless” by For King and Country is a wonderful song with a powerful meaning behind it, reminding us that we are loved and adored daughters of the King.
I see you dressed in white.
Every wrong made right.
I see a rose in bloom at the sight of you, oh so priceless.
Irreplaceable, unmistakable, incomparable.
Darling, it’s beautiful.
I see it all in you, oh so priceless.
I have been single – going on a few dates here and there but nothing serious – for over four years. You heard it right; four very challenging, yet joy-filled years that have helped me grow so much in my faith and my relationship with Jesus Christ. They have helped me in pursuing my heart’s desires, focusing on what love truly means, building relationships with friends, and keeping Christ at the center of it all.
However, I strongly desire to serve the Lord alongside my future husband, supporting each other in the highs and lows that come with life here on earth, and raising a family. I long to share my heart with someone and to grow in our faith together as one under Christ. What a beautiful thing a Christ-centered marriage is! I know, all too well, how difficult it can be to be patient and let God do His thing, but we all know His plan is far greater than our own.
“For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
No matter how impatient I can be, I am choosing to trust in Him. I am confident in the hope that He is preparing my heart to love my future husband so deeply and with the greatest appreciation that comes from the prayerful single season. As 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, “pray without ceasing.”
In this season of being single, I have had plenty of moments where I strongly considered settling. I even took part in online dating–something I had earnestly vowed to never partake in. But then I had a sort of epiphany. If I were to settle for something as meaningful and sincere as love, what else would I settle for? Needless to say, this thought did not appeal to me in the slightest. In fact, it took me back to what my dad would say.
My dad was the absolute perfect example of living free with a smile on his face, befriending many people, and not settling for lackluster along the way. He tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident on Father’s Day when I was just nine years old. My life, as well as many others, was forever impacted by this man and his genuine kindness and love that he manifested so beautifully. My dad is an inspiration when it comes to maintaining patience in times of difficulty or loneliness.
Being 25 years young, I realize so much more now how dearly my dad loved me and treasured me. I was blessed to have him be a part of my life for the time that I did, and I will forever treasure him teaching me the true ways of a gentleman. If my dad was here today, I know with 100% confidence, he would tell me to be patient, pray, and live fully in this season as God is preparing me for greater things. To give gratitude to our Heavenly Father for such a time as this and to rely on Him and Him alone for He is perfect in all His ways.
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
You are brave.
Beautiful.
Treasured.
Priceless.
More than enough.
Immensely loved by an everlasting God.
You are the daughter of a sovereign King.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
My prayer is that we, as women, remember our worth that is found in Jesus Christ. I pray that we find patience in waiting, peace in the trials, and comfort in the loneliness. My heart is with each of you in this season. There is so much power in His name, and He has amazing plans for each one of us. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
