I’m so excited to share with you one of my favorite humans, Anna Gray! If you’ve met Anna her energy is contagious. These images are just SO fun and I love the touches of Anna Gray as an artist in these images! Rain or shine, heres some inspiration for your next shoot!
Name/Business name: AG Photo
About Anna Gray: I’m an art & yoga enthusiast (bring on the aesthetics, yoga leggings, and absurdity!), skeptic, old soul, ambitious human, questioner of life. I love a good run, talking to old people, the dynamic of emotions, earthy things, and the way that all of creation, and what we as humans do, can’t help but point back to the Creator of it all.
About this session: These were senior portraits taken at a depot in a small, historical town in NC. Railei (senior) wanted something fun, and in her words, “Sassy”, so we did just that. It rained, shined, clouded, double rainbowed, and we ended the session by perusing around barefoot in the roads, jumping in puddles, and basically saying, “To heck,” with road etiquette, because what fun would that be?
Did this session challenge you? HA! As someone still a newborn to photography world, every session challenges me in some way, shape, or form. So yes, this one did, but in the best of ways! As mentioned above, it down poured, shined, rainbowed, shined again, so ’twas some interesting weather we were working with! I think the biggest challenge was honestly just making the most out of whatever Mother Nature decided to inflict upon us. Sunshine? Cool. Rain? Let’s grab an umbrella. Post storm? Let’s jump in puddles.
What gear was used? Nikon D800 + Sigma ART 35mm 1.4!
Why photography? People are important, emotions are important, and others seeing themselves in a different LIGHT is important. Humans have this habit of negative self talk, and in order to really counter it, they have to believe the affirmation that is said…and often times to believe it, they have to SEE it. Images often have the power to break this barrier, and that is just ONE reason I have a deep admiration for photography.
How does your relationship with Jesus effect your work? It forces me, as someone who is otherwise RESTLESS, to really be still and focus. It forces me to slow down, and appreciate the make up and diversity of people – their alignment, expressions, features, characters…they are all different. For me, it is about taking a pause to recognize the wonder that He has displayed.
