Upcycled Driftwood Necklace {Be Thrifty with Emily}

DIY, upcycling/refashioning & bringing new life to things is a passion of mine and I’m so excited to get to share some projects with y’all! Some might be a little more in depth (requiring a sewing machine, drill, etc) but trust me, I’m not one for complicated projects & tutorials so they will be simple!
I wanted to start off with this little tutorial so that as you go on vacation & scavenge the beaches, you’ll have a little inspiration in mind & possibly a project to work on!
Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a sucker for driftwood! Everytime I’m near a beach (whether at a lake or the ocean) I find a few pieces to bring home with me:) Since I’ve used driftwood to create several pieces of decor, I started thinking, “why can’t I wear it too?!” and that’s where this little idea was born!

Materials:
as many pieces of driftwood or sticks as you like | chain or jewelry cord | round links | lobster clasp | drill + small drill bit | paint + paintbrush/toothpicks
1} Use your small drill bit to create holes where you’d like them placed in the stick.
If needed, sand off any rough edges.
4} Once paint is dry, thread the chain or jewelry cord through the holes you drilled. How you do this & how the sticks lay is up to you. I used two small circles just below the upper stick to keep it from laying right next to the lower stick. Since my necklace was long enough to fit over my head, I didn’t need a clasp but you can find those {as well as the chain & circles} at most craft stores or a jewelry/beading shop. Just add them to the ends of your chain/cord to finish it off!
