What do your mornings look like?
If you are like me, the first thing you do when you open your eyes is check your Facebook. Next, you check your email to see if you have any messages, and then you stumble your way to the kitchen and pour yourself some tea, or coffee, and begin to face the day.
Sunday mornings you may skip Facebook and head straight to church where you smile, laugh, and pretend that everything is awesome and going great! Worship begins, you giggle with your best friend about the boy to the left who you know just wants to talk to you, and then close your eyes and open your heart to receive the Word, and praise the I AM.
Now, take a second to listen to this beautiful song called “Clear the Stage” by Jimmy Needham.
Just close your eyes and listen.

“Clear the stage and set the sound and lights ablaze
If that’s the measure you must take to crush the idols
Jerk the pews and all the decorations, too
until the congregations few, then have revival
Tell your friends that this is where the party ends
Until you’re broken for your sins, you can’t be social
Then seek the Lord and wait for what He has in store
And know that great is your reward so just be hopeful
”
What if the first thing I did, before I got up, was reach for my Bible?
To be open to receive any “notifications” GOD has for me?
What if the first thing I did on Sunday morning was be honest?
What if the only thing I did during worship, was “Beg Him please to open up His mouth and speak,
and pray for real upon your [my] knees until they blister”.
What if I remembered that “Worship is more than a Song”?
Every day we have the choice to actually put on our Armor and grab our Swords, or we can just ‘tweet’ about it.
It’s not easy to open up that Bible every morning when we have so many distractions, but I want to encourage you to take a step and set a meeting with the most High.Something that has really been convicting to me is, if I call Jesus my best friend…then why am I not listening to Him eagerly? Why am I not talking to Him daily? This week, and the weeks following, I am going to make it my goal to have (as my youth group leader calls it) a date with Jesus every day. I want to learn more about the GOD who loves me.

Really, really love this. Sometimes I feel like the busyness of life is just overwhelming… but the most important thing we can do is abide with our Jesus. Thanks for the encouragement and reminder, Jessica! :)
