After 17+ years of attending church, listening to sermons, sitting quietly in Sunday school, leading Bible studies… I found myself in a place where I was numb to the Gospel. This is a dangerous, scary place, but it’s a reality for so many people who have grown up in church. Why is this? Why do we tune out and numb ourselves to the most fundamental aspect of our lives?
The Gospel has radically wrecked and transformed me. Does my life shout that from the rooftops?
Oh, I pray that I would never again find myself in a place where I have no passion and zeal for the Gospel. Because here’s the deal. As Christians, if we let go of the greatness of the Gospel, we won’t live it out. We won’t share it and our lives will not portray our devotion for Jesus because it won’t be there. Our hearts are to be consumed with the furthering of the Gospel. When I even think about what Jesus has done for me, what I have been saved from, wow… my heart should be torn and emboldened in a extraordinary way. Girls, we need to remind ourselves daily of the Gospel. Remember what God has done for you, and live in light of the powerful truth of His love. When we live with the Gospel at the forefront of our minds, the way and the reason why we live is different. We see others in a different light… instead of that person at work being your biggest frustration, you see them as a soul who desperately needs salvation. Instead of being annoyed with the bad attitude of the guy in front of you in Walmart, you wonder what is going on in his life to cause such anger and frustration.
Friends, we need a new perspective. We need the eyes of Jesus to SEE the things that He sees. We need the love of Jesus to LOVE the things that He loves. We need the heart of Jesus to be BROKEN over the things that break His heart. And when we begin to live with the Gospel as central to our days – those things begin to happen. I want to encourage you to watch the video above – it’s a little bit lengthy, but I can assure you that it will be one of the most powerful moments of your day. Allow yourself to be reminded of why you are here. Allow the Gospel to impact you and change you – because if the Gospel doesn’t change us, then what are we even here for?

SO MUCH TRUE. I went on a mission’s trip to south africa last summer and it made me realize how I take my salvation for granted too often. It is something I can’t just “whatever”. It has saved me from sin and what I NEED to share. I fall short of that too often. Thank you for this needed reminder. :) x
