Calm Waters – Megan J. Becker
Whenever I come near water, I become excited. Thrilled. I love the ocean, bays, rivers, streams…you name it. I especially love how calm water can be. This past summer I would sit near a beautiful body of water called the, Chesapeake Bay. I would do this as the day would come to an end, and the sun would start to set. All that had taken place that day seemed to just melt away. It was peaceful, and calm. Serene and beautiful. No more stress lingered, and I could think clearer.
There are so many verses in the Bible where God uses water as ways to visualize something powerful. Something…meaningful. I am so thankful for water. Even if it means to drink it, or wash a child’s feet in…water is cleansing. Jesus said that whoever believes in Him, rivers of living water will flow out of them. This, I saw as a challenge. I don’t want my waters to be bitter, black, or disrupting. Storms will come, and will my waters be roused by them? Roused in a way of fear and doubting?
I pray that the waters that will flow out of my life will be pure, encouraging, and uplifting and nourishing.
