{Be Encouraged} Why I Love Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I wanted to take a moment to explain to you all why it is one of my favorite holidays! Thanksgiving is a day that revolves around and is all about being thankful for the many blessings that the Lord has given us throughout the year and throughout our lives! While I love what the holiday stands for and is about, my favorite part of the day is that I get to be with some of my favorite people and celebrate the fact that God has placed them in my life. Yes, the food is amazing and I love watching parades, but none of these things are as important as being together with my family.

For my whole life, my dad has worked close enough to home that he could come home every day for lunch. Since my brothers and I were homeschooled, we would always have our biggest meal at noon time. I didn’t realize until I was older how much of a blessing it was to be able to be together almost every day and share a meal with each other. Now that we are all adults and have different schedules it be hard at times to find a time when we can all be together for a meal. Even though we are busy, we usually at least once a week  find ourselves once again seated around the dining room table as a family. I can honestly say that some of my best memories (and some of my worst), took place seated around that table in our dining room. No matter how good or how bad those memories may be, the thing that makes them memorable is the fact that we were all there – together.

So, back to Thanksgiving…why am I so excited about this day that comes only once a year? Because I will get to spend it with my family enjoying their company and celebrating the fact that God chose to place me in this family and that we get to walk through life together.
