Hi Alyssa!! Please introduce yourself to everyone!
Hey there! My name is Alyssa Jackson. I am 18 years old and I live in Lockport Illinois!
What are a few of your favorite things?
Oh my. I have so many favorite things. To name a few:
Smiling, spearmint tea, laughing, encouraging people, dancing, TRAVELING, Anthropologie, deep conversations, little kids, journaling, Marvel movies, The Hunger Games, puppies, being with my family, my sisters, learning new things, arts and crafts, singing really loud, Harry Potter, making really lame jokes, the ocean, my momma’s apple pie, fuzzy socks, Moriah Sutton, anything with sparkles, doing silly things, MUSIC, Chick-fil-a mints, lace, my camera, adventuring, hugs, handwritten notes, Marco Island!
Ok so maybe that was a lot more than a few but I couldn’t decide! I love too many things. ;)
So tell us what you do! What is your creative passion?
I love love LOVE photography. It is seriously my favorite thing ever. I specifically take pictures of Highschool Seniors and I loveee it. Girls in highschool can be so insecure and I just love giving a day to them that is ALL about them! They seriously are so wonderful and beautiful and I love showing them that. It is truly a blessing to be able to do what I do and love people with the talent that God gave me.
Ah!! I love it! You can find Alyssa’s work on her WEBSITE, FACEBOOK, and INSTAGRAM.
What would you say is your wildest dream?
My wildest dream would probably be to do a stylized shoot in another country. THAT would be totally fantastic.

So, let’s talk about what God has been teaching you lately.
To trust Him. Gosh He has been teaching me that SO much this past year and already this year as well. My life is not at all where it was a year ago and it was so scary to go through all the changes that came with the past year. But I can’t tell you how thankful I am for it. Because all of the rough patches and heartbreak has brought be so much closer to Christ and I am trusting Him with my life more than I ever have before.
What was the hardest thing you have ever faced, and how have you grown from it?
Last year God said no to a lot of things that I didn’t think He would say no to, and it was really hard. I had to decide if I was going to obey Him or keep the things I loved. I chose to obey, and as hard as it was and continues to be, I know it was the right choice. I’m definitely learning that following Christ is always the right choice. No matter what you have to give up.
And what would you say is your greatest fear?
My greatest fear is that my insecurities and doubts will keep me from living my life to its fullest. So many times I’ve not done something because I’m too afraid of what the outcome could be. It’s really scary to think that unknown things could keep me from doing what I dream of or what God is calling me to do.

How has being a part of Delight been a blessing to you?
Delight has been an encouragement to me in more ways than I could even say. Being in a group of creative young women who love Jesus is seriously amazing! I’ve gotten to travel all over to meet so many wonderful girls and it has been AWESOME. They are all so creative, so fun, so Godly, and so so wonderful. Countless times I have asked for prayer on really tough situations and there has been an over abundance of prayer, encouragement, text messages, and bible verses every time. They are seriously like sisters to me. Every one of them.
One last question: If you had only 1 day left to live, how would you spend it?
Well for one thing I would want the day to be totally overflowing with smiles and laughter. Because I love those kind of days. I would want to do something that would absolutely terrify me. Like skydive, bungee jump, or something else equally as terrifying. I would totally want to talk to as many people I don’t know as I could and just love and encourage them. I would probably audition for American Idol because I can’t sing to save my life and it would be HILARIOUS. I would also want to be able to see all the people who have made an impact in my own life just to thank them and tell them how much I love them. I would probably eat a whole pan of brownies too. I love brownies.
Ah! Thank you so much for sharing your heart with us, Alyssa. If something she said has encouraged you, please share the love + leave a comment for her!
