Skinny. Ugly. Worthless.
These words have become a plague and a curse. Everyone is sick of talking about it, this sickness eating girls alive from the inside out. Breaking down walls and building up barbed wired fences. It’s a code for not enough, because with the dropping pounds comes feeling of lesser then. This feeling is a lie, it is an attack done by twisting beautiful truths into treacherous beliefs. That to be beautiful is to be thin. That to be ugly is to be curvy. And that to be loved is to sacrifice your self.
But the truth is the opposite. Healthy? that’s what’s beautiful. Ugly? That’s to be self-consumed. Worthless? There is no such thing.
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
And we are worth so much more then what the world tells us.
“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
I refuse to sink. I refuse to be brought down by the out right lies thrown at me. For each truth known and cherished by my heart renders the fiery arrows shot at me fruitless. I will not catch fire. I cannot be burned. My hope is not in this world.
Does that make this life any easier? No, it doesn’t.
Does it mean I never have bad days? Not one bit.
All that’s changes is my self worth does not depend on the lies I hear, but is built upon the truth.
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”
