Hey girls!
In recent weeks we have been featuring several Delight girls who have shared about their personal style for this section of the blog. This week, I’m delighted to share a little more about myself! It is my hope that as this and other sections of the Delight blog grow, we can build a real community of ladies who are the very definition of authentic, true beauty; inside and out! And one way to do that is by getting to know one another.
I live in beautiful north central Washington state, not far from the Delight House! I’ve been involved with Delight from a distance since its creation, but am so excited to be more involved this year in taking over this section of the blog and leading at the upcoming retreat! I am married to Jeff, who is a Trooper with the Washington State Patrol. We have one son, Spencer John, who is our miracle baby. He turns 5 next month!
Other than chasing after Spence and spending time with my man, I am the assistant director of social services for a skilled nursing facility and care center. It keeps me very busy! Outside of work, though, I really enjoy dabbling in design, style and freelance writing. I love (I mean LOVE!) getting the opportunity to be creative; whether it be putting together a gallery wall in a home, painting furniture or collaborating with local artists and designers for stylized photography sessions. I’m also happy to be an extended part of the fashion/PR/blogging community in Seattle, where I’ve had the opportunity to cover high-end fashion shows and philanthropic events, which have become some of my favorite things to do every year.
When I’m not doing all of the above, I re-charge through attending barre classes, dance, exploring the great outdoors (GOD’s country is right here in Washington state!) or even just sitting at home flipping through the latest issue of my favorite magazine or reading historical novels. I’m somewhat of a news nerd and regularly read The Wall Street Journal. I love traveling and have been to 15 countries. I believe that travel is the spice of life!
Because this blog post for the Be Styled section wouldn’t be complete without listing some of my favorite style/beauty related things and advice, I figured I’d share a few! My favorite stores are Nordstrom (because…everything), Anthropologie, J. Crew, Madewell and quirky little boutiques that showcase local artists or product lines. I own way too many gray tee’s and collect graphic tee’s–most of which….are also gray. My “Ask Me About My Cat” shirt is in heavy rotation right now. I love good quality denim, and favor Hudson‘s. I endorse quality over quantity and have learned I’m saving money by investing in denim that lasts over spending more for pairs that wear out quickly. I have a hard time pulling myself away from the Essie nail polish display at Target, have learned the art of picking a good brow pencil (thanks to blonde eybrows!) and am looking forward to sharing with you all about my lash extension experience in a few weeks!
