Hi friends!! This is more of an inspiration post than a tutorial, but I’ll definitely give some helpful links to help you get going!
As much as I love projects and creating something unique and different, I’m really not a seamstress & don’t “ply my needle” very often. But I fell in love with simple embroidery and wanted to share! You can write out a simple quote like I did or embroider a little sketch (as seen HERE).
You’ll need >> embroidery thread, a needle, fabric & an embroidery hoop. Use a washable pen or marker to print your design on the fabric. Follow these instructions to learn about the different stitches (the split stitch is my favorite!)! Play around with it and figure out what works best for you… I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
(p.s. fun fact! the embroidered “name frame” that you see in the picture below was done by a dear friend our family met when we lived in Memphis when I was a babe! She embroidered one for each of the children in my family (10 in all!), completing the last when she was about 90 years old though her eyesight is failing. She’s 94 today and still living strong! It’s such a treasured gift to me and I’ll always keep it!)
