Meredith has done it again, seriously y’all! If you don’t follow Meredith, you need to check her out. Everything about this session is seriously so beautiful, the model, the location, the connection from artist to subject! It was so hard picking what to share here on the blog! I love the way Meredith poses her subjects in such a captivating way! I hope you get inspired from todays feature!
Name/business name: Meredith Sledge Photography
Something short and sweet about you: I’m a Virginia and destination wedding & portrait photographer who loves my sweet miniature dachshund Daphne, drinks coffee like it’s my job, and can usually be found traveling or watching reality TV when I’m not taking photos.
About this session: This was a 2016 senior session from this past summer. I met Emily for the first time at her shoot and she was such a sweetheart! Seniors are so special to me for a lot of reasons. I genuinely enjoy portraits but beyond that, I love making my seniors feel loved. High school can be a rough place and it’s really stressful applying to colleges and not knowing what to pursue. But I love encouraging girls during that time in their lives and making them feel beautiful and special.
Did this session challenge you? The main challenge during this shoot was that it rained a little bit right after she changed into her third outfit. I always have my clients save their favorite outfit for last, once they’re warmed up with my camera and unfortunately, it started pouring right when she came out from changing. I ran to my car to get my clear umbrella and we ended up doing a few fun photos with that, which was not planned and I ended up loving it. After a little bit, the rain cleared and we were fine!
What gear was used: 5D Mark III, 50mm 1.2L, 85mm 1.2L, 35mm 1.4L
Why photography: Photography inspires me — it fills me up in a way I can’t explain. It’s such a joy to be able to give irreplaceable memories to people. Photography stops time and allows people to feel emotions and it brings back memories that are forgotten many years later. Photography
How does your relationship with Jesus affect your work? Hugely! I pray before every shoot, asking God to allow my clients to see a light in me. I hope to love them and make them feel something that they’ve never felt. If my clients don’t know the Lord, I might be the only person they ever meet who cares for them in a Christ-like way and I feel an incredible honor and responsibility in that. I’m very open on my social media about Jesus and though I don’t usually mention my faith during my sessions (unless I’m asked), I hope that they will connect the dots when following me online.
