Today is the fourth Monday of 2014! Where did January go? Seriously?? I can’t believe that it will be February in a few days. I am not a natural born writer & it’s not my favorite thing to do, but I promise to do my best to write and update everyone as this crazy journey with the Delight House unfolds! I read Psalm 119 many times last year and it talks about sharing the testimonies of what God is doing. We hear so much negative on a daily basis so I feel it is so vital for us to be sharing the awesome things that God is doing. I am daily in awe of God orchestrating such beautiful things just within Delight & it’s mind boggling how the God of the entire universe cares about the intimate details of each of our lives. . .down to the exact dollar amount of what we need.
Living day to day life seeking God & listening to Him feels like a great adventure. Ever since surrendering my life completely to God back in October of 2011, my life has never been so challenging yet also so full of joy. There is joy that comes from surrendering . . . I challenge you to open your hands and give your life to God if you haven’t already done so! In choosing to let go & move on & surrendering your life to God, you will find a freedom you’ve never had. . .a joy that is inexpressible.
So back to the update on the house:
**January 11th & 12th—Isaac, Ethan & I started ripping up the carpets!
**January 15th—Continued ripping up carpets, floorboards. . .slow progress
with just me, 14 year old and 10 year old! But feels rewarding to see progress!
**January 17th—Met with contractor to see what our options are in regards
which walls can be removed, etc.
**January 20-25th—Slow going just trying to knock down a wall & take off
doors, etc.
This upcoming week:
**Continuing to tear down walls after Isaac and Ethan get done with school
every day! And taking load to the dump in the ugly truck! Great
memories are being made!
**Meet with non-profit lawyer tomorrow!
**Getting house insurance . . . because it is “commercial property” and
unoccupied, the price is higher than I anticipated! Almost $700 a year!
**Praying the loan is approved this week!
**Meeting with a contractor for a bid on the exterior of the house
Prayers for this week are for God to use this to ultimately bring Him glory in the process. That I would have physical strength as I’m not used to swinging sledgehammers! But it sure does feel good to see a hole in a wall & things getting done! Prayers also for financial provision to pay for the beginning of the non-profit journey, for the house insurance as well as the loan.
Thanks for being part of this wonderful, awesome and faith-building experience with us! In the midst of a son stepping on a nail, feeling exhausted & a bit overwhelmed, I sat down to my computer & one of my sweet Delight girls, Catherine, had written me all the way from Australia after I posted about the exciting news of the house. She wrote these words and it made me remember the “why” . . . “I would be lying if I said I didn’t just spend the last 20 minutes dreaming about the smell of fresh cherry pie wafting throughout the Delight House with the soft chitter chatter of secrets and best friends. . .” I know that God has beautiful plans for this home. . .that it will be a place for community, a place to bring hope, to inspire and encourage young ladies. . .a place to bring Glory to God!
