“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”
– 1 Corinthians 2:9 (English Standard Version)
or I love how The Message says it:
“No one’s ever seen or heard anything like this,
Never so much as imagined anything quite like it—
What God has arranged for those who love him.”
Take a minute and close your eyes (as long as you’re not driving or playing with sharp objects…which I guess you wouldn’t be doing either of those already if you’re reading this post ;) )
Imagine your dream life. What would it look like? What is your heart’s desire? Guess what?! God’s plans for you are even MORE AMAZING than what is in your head right now!!! As the scripture says, NO eye has seen, NO ear has heard…and no one has even IMAGINED what God has prepared for us. It goes beyond anything we could ever comprehend. I’m getting a headache just trying to wrap my head around that.
The tricky part is that God’s plan often doesn’t look anything like OUR plan. His plan often looks flat out nuts…at least in the World’s eyes. Frustration comes when we try to force our plan into happening. We end up feeling like we’re trying to push a wheelbarrow full of rocks uphill. (or am I the only one who has tried to do that?!)
I have learned that life is SOOOOOO much easier (like a gazillion times more easier…more easier, is that even proper English?!) when I step back and let God dream through me and then follow the plan He lays out for me. Regardless of how crazy it may sound.
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” – 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
God has phenomenal plans for your life. He created you for a specific purpose and can’t wait for you to experience the joy of walking in that purpose! I encourage you to consistently take a few minutes of quiet time to ‘fix your eyes on the unseen’. It can be so easy to get caught up in the frustrations and distractions of our daily lives. But all of it fades into the shadows when we focus our attention on Him.
Ask God to give you a glimpse into all that He has for you…and prepare to be amazed!!! You are AWESOME!!! Don’t ever forget that! ;)
