Tell us a little about yourself!
Hi y’all. I am Gina Zeidler. I live in Minneapolis, MN area with my Husband Matt, our 8 month old Cal and little pup Mya. Winters are a bit nuts here, but the summer and falls are what we love here!!
What do you do? What is your creative passion?
I am a photographer, a believer, a mentor, an encourager and connector. I cherish all of these roles because I love people. Serving others through either photography, mentoring or sharing my failures and real life to encourage others or help them feel not alone is my bread and butter. Seeing the Lord work in others is a huge passion of mine.
What is your favorite part about what you do?
People. I am passionate about people. About getting to know each of my clients and defining each person through my images. A lil’ bit of storytelling and a lot of capturing your genuine authentic love & emotion. I love helping others get clarity on their path or next steps in business.
You have such a passion for investing in people. Why do you believe this is so important?
Because God says to Love others like he loves us. That is really the root of it. It’s so simple yet we often make it more complicated. It truly does light my fire to see others soar and really succeed in their paths and God-given gifts.
What is your greatest fear?
To be honest? To be too prideful or caught up in this world that I don’t see the Lord’s plan for me. I often find myself valuing things that the world puts out there instead of what the Lord has to say about me.
Who has been the most influential woman in your life?
The Lord has put so many wonderful women in my life my mother, my grandmother. But to name someone besides family. The Lord has truly used Lara Casey to change my life.
Tell us about how you got involved with Making Things Happen. How has it changed your life/business?
It all started with this post. I read it years ago at my day job and since then it’s been a whirlwind, from going to the first ever Making Things Happen, to leaving my full time job that year, to Lara asking Emily and I to be on the MTH team. God is remarkable y’all. I could have never of seen this beautiful work in my life. I am so grateful for it. This post is a great summary of my MTH story from 2009-2011.
What has been your best marketing tactic thus far?
Do good work and word of mouth will follow. Investing in your clients and going above and beyond for them is always my best marketing piece. Also, taking time to identify your passions and really DO them within your work.
What is one tip for getting natural, joyful images from a couple on their wedding day?
BE GOOFY. BE FUN. Say the awkward thing. I promise they are thinking it. So say it. I often say “Why is this weird lady (me) making me do this… or what’s that goofy leg thing she is doing” or bust a goofy dance move and typically, with the right set of clients, you will have off the cuff images where clients forget that they are being photographed. Just have fun with them.
How do you want to be remembered? What do you want your legacy to be?
I want to be remembered as someone who has the joy of the Lord. Someone who let’s the Father in heaven work and shine in her life. I want others to experience Christ’s joy through the pages of my life.
