I first had the pleasure of meeting Hannah when she was a bridesmaid in a wedding I was second shooting at. Coincidentally, she was also going to be MY second shooter the very next day! It was quite the pleasant surprise! Hannah’s fun and beautiful personality shines through everything she does. She’s an awesome example of a Delight girl seeking to grow her business and her talents with a Christ-centered focus. Without further ado, meet Hannah!

Tell us a little about yourself!
Hi everyone, I’m Hannah! I’m a photographer in Chester, Virginia who loves to travel and meet new people! I’m in love with pretty much anything bohemian and from the 70’s. I’ve been told I’m an old soul and I strongly believe summertime is the best time of the year. I aspire to be a successful photographer, but my ultimate dream is to one day be the best wife and mom that I can be and give God all the glory!
Where is home?
I’ve lived in Virginia most of my life, but I was born in Texas and that’s where my family is from, so I will always be a Texas girl at heart!
What is a website/blog you frequently visit?
Natalie Franke Photography, Danielle Poff Photography, and Caroline Tran Photography
If you could have lunch with one person, who would it be?
Catherine Marie, my mom’s mother who passed away before I was born. My mom says that we’re alike in a lot of ways and I’ve always wished I had gotten the chance to meet her. I would love to sit down in her kitchen, listen to the sound of her voice, and drink a Dr. Pepper together.
What are five words friends would use to describe you?
Hardworking, sentimental, passionate, gullible, and strong-willed
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
My dream is to build up my photography business and become a successful photographer, but my heart is open to whatever the Lord calls me to do!
If you had to choose one lens, which one would it be?
My 85mm 1.4 lens, hands down! The bokeh it creates is phenomenal.
What’s in your camera bag?
Nikon D750
Nikon D7000 (backup)
50mm 1.4
85mm 1.4
24-70mm 2.8 (Sigma)
55-200mm 4.5-5.6
70-300mm 4.5-5.6
SB-700 flash
How long have you been doing photography?
As a hobby for 8 years and as a business for 1 year!
What type of photography do you specialize in?
As I am trying to build my business, there isn’t a particular area of photography that I specialize in. However, this upcoming year, I will be focusing more on photographing Seniors and Weddings!
Did you go to school for photography?
No, but I love to educate myself by watching videos and reading articles online. I keep a journal where I take notes of everything I’ve learned and I really value the advice and wisdom from other photographers!
What advice would you give your 15-year-old self?
Care less about yourself and more about others. Give more, expect less. Focus on the Lord and really seek to honor Him in everything you do. I would also tell my 15-year-old self that no matter how cool you think you are, curling your eyelashes until they’re bent and then applying clear mascara is not the way to go. At ALL.
How does your relationship with God affect the way you do business?
I pray that I would be a true reflection of Jesus in everything I do as it relates to my photography business and I hope to bless others through my pictures!
What is your favorite verse?
Psalm 116:5-9
5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
our God is merciful.
6 The Lord preserves the simple;
when I was brought low, he saved me.
7 Return, O my soul, to your rest;
for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
8 For you have delivered my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling;
9 I will walk before the Lord
in the land of the living.
How would you describe your style?
Emotional, storytelling, genuine
Who or what is the greatest love of your life?
I have a sweet 10 month old baby named Knox that I nanny! He makes my days so much brighter and I just love him to pieces!
Who has been the most influential person in your life?
Definitely my mom. She is my constant source of encouragement and her advice and wisdom influences every decision I make.
If you could shoot with another photographer, who would it be?
Probably Benj Haisch. He seems like such a genuine, down to earth guy and his work is breathtaking!
Where do you find your inspiration?
I find that my greatest inspiration comes from everyday life. Life is such a beautiful and remarkable gift and the more I analyze it and take the time to watch life happening around me, the more inspired I am to document it.
If you could choose one person to photograph, who would it be?
That’s a super hard question! I think it would be amazing to photograph someone from the royal family, biblical times, a famous person or a world leader! Thankfully I don’t have to choose one since everyone has a story to tell and I’m passionate about telling as many as I can through my lens!

This girl, is the real deal. My 3 daughters are featured in one of the pictures included in this interview…it was a less than perfect day as we encountered a couple of very difficult situations but Hannah was SO professional & encouraging. My little girls are quite shy around people at times & she just put them at ease & was able to take pictures that NObody else could have gotten. Her heart is as beautiful as she is & I’m so immensely excited to see what all God has in store for her. May God be glorified in all you do, sweet girl.
That is so awesome! Hannah is the sweetest and she is SO talented! It’s amazing to hear one of her clients brag on her like this…! ;)
