There is a stigma that comes with artists, sometimes I’m pretty sure people just think we sit around and work up masterpieces one after another while sipping tea and gazing out to a mountainous view. Now some of that may be true at times , I think we all forget what a constant work it is to stay inspired or renewing your passion. It takes a little more effort to push yourself to create and have a new mind as art and trends evolve.
Here are three things I like to do to keep myself inspired.
1. Trying a new medium.
Are you a photographer? Try painting! Drawing! Hand-lettering or learn an instrument! Oh the possibilities are endless. Even if you’re not good at everything, its fun to try. This is always SO refreshing when I learn a new art technique, it causes me to push my-self and I’m still expressing myself through art and exercise that right side of my brain!
2. Spend time with people.
Whether you are introverted or extroverted, go meet new people, or get to know the ones around you! Ask people about their story, what inspires THEM, or how they like to express themselves. Even though I love my alone time, People and what they are passionate about inspire me and actually charge me up! I love hearing peoples stories, what has gotten them to where they are today. Seeing fire in someones eyes as they talk about something they are passionate about is so incredibly inspiring to me. It just makes me want to constantly find that for myself.
3. Be a student.
It is true when they say you learn something new every day. You can always learn SOMETHING from somebody, Jokingly I say that you can even learn what not to do if you can’t find anything else. Look around you and desire to learn. Attend a workshop, put together a photographer hangout, get a mentor, ask questions. It can be humbling but so rewarding! You never know what you will learn that can inspire you to try out the new information you’re retaining!
Now go turn on some good music and create something pretty!
I hope you found new ways to renew your artistic mind through this post! But now its your turn! tell me how YOU find ways to inspire yourself in the comments!
