Something short and sweet about you: My heart beats for justice, creative storytelling, and mom-ing the world. I work as a photographer for passionate people and am based out of Fargo, ND. While I love traveling, my community is where I invest my heart as I lead a ministry to women in the sex industry. When I’m not working, you can find me having dance parties with my roommates, drinking all the coffee, and taking mini adventures down gravel roads.
About this session: The world of instagram can be a beautiful place! This styled shoot for the Minneapolis fair trade and eco friendly boutique Hazel & Rose was a collaboration featuring models I sought out for being all around beautiful people. It was a passion project and it was seeing it come to life and even exceed my dreams.
Did this session challenge you?As my first styled shoot, the planning process was such a learning experience. Working with a boutique and models to achieve a certain vision grew me as an artist. I really discovered an area of photography in editorial that I dearly love and hope to continue adventuring into in the time to come.
What gear was used: Nikon D700 + 50mm 1.4,
Why photography: Photography for me is about storytelling. It’s about celebration. It’s about experiencing life with people and loving them in whatever season they are walking through. It’s really about weeping and laughing together. Somehow in the process of these experiences, I get to produce art. That feels like magic.
How does your relationship with Jesus effect your work? Jesus has both affected my work deeply, but also changed me through the process of being a photographer, so it goes both ways. Learning to see people as God does – with identity and destiny – is absolutely crucial to every time I pick up my camera. I’ve been challenged to love people better and from a selfless place that strives for excellence out of a position of service.
