{Be Encouraged} My Theme Verse of 2014

As much as my sinful heart tries to evade the lessons that God is wanting to teach me, sometimes I just cannot escape His working in my heart. Oh how thankful for that I am! This year (I know, it’s only been a month!) I have had this verse on repeat in my mind almost continually “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.” – Isaiah 26:3-4 

It has been a great reminder for me that when I am not at peace it is because I am not keeping my mind stayed on the EVERLASTING rock – Jesus Christ. There have been a lot of changes in my life in just these first couple of weeks of 2014, and this verse has really been something to hold onto and to take comfort in when there have been times of uncertainty or change. The other day while I was having my quiet time I came across Psalm 91:1-2 “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'” The strength of the Lord and the power of resting in him again struck me as something I need to put my hope and focus on continually.

So it would seem that my theme for this year so far is going to be one of Steadfastness, Dwelling, Trusting and Resting in the Lord. Those are big words and I am no where near to understand fully what each of them mean, but I am excited to grow in my knowledge of them this year.
