Who are you?
Hey there! My name is Paige Overturf and I am a 23 year old destination photographer. Photography and travel have always been a huge passion of mine, which is why I chose to go the destination photography route. Currently based out of the North Carolina, but I find myself on the road more than at home. I have 7 siblings, growing up with them was the absolute best. When I’m not taking photos or behind a computer editing, you can find me exploring dirt roads, swimming in saltwater, eating a hamburger, or at the gym.
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be? Antarctica! Wuddup penguins!
What do you do? What’s your creative passion? I am a destination photographer. Photographing weddings and engagements, but I also spend a lot of time photographing families as well as reunions and events around the globe!
What are three words you’d use to describe yourself? Crazy. GiveMeAllTheCarbs. Adventurous.
How did you discover your creative passion? Photography has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. Change is difficult for me and photography became my way of holding on to people and places. Photographs are like keeping a memory alive. Forever.
What is your favorite part about what you do? The people, no doubt! Everyone has a story. Sometimes the stories are sad, inspiring, challenging, or downright crazy. But when you get to the core of who someone is, there is one common factor: people just want to be loved. And love always wins.
I’m not talking about romantic love, although, that is a large part of the stories I hear, considering I am a wedding photographer. :) But real, authentic, selfless love. That’s what wins. Over, and over, and over again.
To photograph someone who has opened up and trusted you with their story, the real them, is the absolute greatest privilege ever. Ah! I love it!
What is your wildest dream? To travel to antarctica! It’s my goal to travel there before I turn 25. Hustle baby, hustle. Also to be kissed in a hot air balloon at sunset.
What is one piece of advice you wish you’d been given five years ago? Perfection is a lie told by insecurities.
What’s the hardest thing you’ve been through and how have you grown from it? The year 2015. It was the absolute best year of my life, but it was also the hardest year. I refuse to focus on the negatives in life – dwelling on that doesn’t get us anywhere – however, we have to acknowledge the hard times or setbacks. Sometimes we have to accept them, because there is nothing we can do to change it. Other times we have to acknowledge the hard times but fight to overcome them. After all, we are continually being shaped into the person we were created to be.
Who is your biggest inspiration and why? What have they taught you that has made an impact? There are several people who inspire me, but one of my greatest inspirations is a childhood friend. When I look at her, I see a real woman. Someone who doesn’t need approval from others to be herself. Someone you could have a heart to heart conversation with or send the ugliest selfie to and she loves you the same. Someone who knows what it is to hurt yet strives to see the positive. Someone who finds humor in everything. she is the same person: makeup or not. Someone who is real.
oh, and she loves carbs, so clearly we had no choice but to be best friends.
What is your favorite Bible verse? “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” JOSHUA ONE:NINE
This verse has literally pulled me through the past year.
