Be still.
In today’s culture, this is one of the hardest things to do, Christian or not.
To be silent and listen. To wait on the Lord. To trust that He is fighting our battles and providing and whispering in a voice that can only be heard when we stop with all the doing and let the stillness invade.
This month’s theme is Delight and Be Still and I honestly think we could take a whole year and focus on this and still not get there…wherever there is.
Because stillness is a lifelong practice, a discipline. Something we have to prioritize and do intentionally with hearts that trust and know that God is truly good. Otherwise, distractions come and we go chasing after them because they seem oh so important.
The truth is that there is nothing more important in this life than taking the time to get to know God. To sit in His presence and know He is with us. Everything we do should be an outpouring of that, and if we aren’t getting refilled on a regular basis, the fruit we produce will suffer.
Stillness is more than reading the word, volunteering, praying, worshipping and praising, thanking, and serving. Stillness is knowing deep down that we can’t do anything of value on our own. It’s trusting that God will respond if we wait, and it’s proving to Him that He is worthy of our time and energy and that we don’t always have to be doing the things that seem like they need to be done.
No matter how much we are capable of accomplishing on a daily basis or even in this life, there will always be more that could have been done, should have been done, etc. When focusing on the STUFF….we will always look back with regrets.
The practice of being still shapes our priorities and our perspective.
We encourage you to take time this month to study what it means to be still before the Lord. And if you’d like to journey through it together, visit our Facebook group for girls 16-22 by clicking HERE or comment below.
